Work will extend over the weekend of March 30-31, with services expected to resume fully on Monday, April 1.

The only services to be interrupted from 3pm are those for application and collection of Smart ID cards and passports at live capture offices and participating banks.

All other services will be available at front offices, including registration of births, processing and issuing of certificates (births, marriages, deaths).

The Department of Home Affairs expresses sincere apologies to all of its clients for the service interruption and inconvenience caused. This system upgrade will assist greatly in improving service quality and in building a new national identity system for South Africa.
