Helicopter lands at Avion Park to rush seriously injured biker to hospital
The accident victim had injuries to her leg, spine and neck.
A helicopter made an emergency landing at Avion Park in Highveld Road on Tuesday, to assist a woman who was severely injured in a motorbike accident a few kilometres away.
According to Gerald Groenewald from SecPros Security, the woman was on a motorbike with her partner (who was driving) when a car collided with them on the corner of Constantia Street and Pomona Road at around noon.

“A SecPros and ER24 medic found the young woman on the side of the road with serious injuries,” Groenewald told Express. “Her leg seemed to be broken and she had neck and spinal injuries.”
Due to the woman’s extensive injuries, a helicopter was called to take her to hospital.
“She was rushed to Avion’s rugby field, as there was no landing space on the accident scene,” Groenewald added.
The woman was taken to Sunshine Hospital in Benoni.
