Mashatile meets Ivory Park business people

Paul Mashatile, African National Congress Gauteng Treasurer General, visits Ivory Park.

Paul Mashatile, African National Congress Gauteng Treasurer General, visited Ivory Park residents at the Ivory Park North Community Hall on March 23 to engage on a campaign ahead of the general elections on May 8.

Mashatile started his campaign at Kopanong Taxi Rank before engaging in door-to-door meetings in Ward 77.

Afterwards, Mashatile went to Ivory Park North Community Hall to engage with local business practitioners.

During the meeting, the locals were given a chance to voice their grievances and their business struggles, Bab’ Centrum Khumalo, who deals in the hospitality industry, and Oliver Mehlowenkomo, who has registered cooperatives in agriculture did just that.

“Eskom must train and hire our youth right from our townships, not bring people from Mpumalanga and other places, so our children could be well-equipped with the skills in future,” said Mehlowenkomo.

Treasurer general of ANC in Ward 77 Matome Xilwane said people in townships should be empowered and be part of the development, mostly the building of shopping centres in their areas.

Mashatile responded to their questions and problems by saying a lot of resources are being focused on education by the government, but there is a fund to enable people to invest in building hospitals and schools in rural areas.

“The issues raised here today are issues which we will take to the MEC of the Gauteng Department of Economic Development, Lebohang Maile. He will come to address such issues soon,” said Mashatile.
