Two mothers abandon sick newborn babies at Tembisa Hospital

The children are currently in the care of child welfare

Two mothers whose babies were admitted to Tembisa Hospital for medical care after birth left their sick children at the facility and disappeared.

Tembisa Child and Family Welfare Society is now trying to find the two women. Both children are in the society’s care.

Raisibe Moshia, a social worker at the society, said the mothers, out-patients at the hospital, were discharged after the births and had to come back to the hospital on a daily basis to breastfeed the children. They never did, leaving behind their newborns.

Kabelo Chauke was born on February 18 and Ntuthuko Mnguni on January 31.

The society is now tracing the whereabouts of their respective biological mothers, Lizzy Dipuo Chauke and Thembelihle Mnguni.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts, or any family members, are requested to call Moshia on 081 702 6905.
