Anyone welcome to join bridge games at retirement village
Bridge enthusiasts are invited to join the club, which gathers every Monday from 9.30am-12.30pm.
A group of bridge players meets at Eastlands Retirement Village on Eastlands Drive every Monday from 9.30am until 12.30pm for duplicate bridge pairs.
April Fool’s Day was no exception, and pair Jack Chance and Kevin Kane won with their 64.95%. Second were Jill and Andy Jacobs with 52.83%, and Elaine and Anthony Cripwell were third with 50.72%.
According to organiser Sid Ismail, anyone is welcome to join. “It is a walk-in event and we can cater for any number of pairs.”
According to the club’s website, hands are prepared randomly by computer, score is kept in real-time by a computer and participants receive a record of the hands and results via email afterwards.
Games are R30 per person, which includes half-way tea and a lesson of roughly 45 minutes after the game. On April 8 the lesson’s topic will be “planning the play”. Participants are asked to report to the starter’s desk 15 minutes early.
Readers can contact Sid Ismail on 082 411 9900 for more information. Alternatively, Andrea Bester can also be contacted on 082 525 0000.
