Impumelelo Yethu Drum Majorettes Group launched

Ivory Park drum majorette group launched and joins association.

Impumelelo Yethu Drum Majorettes was launched at an event during Mikateka Primary School’s assembly on April 11, after the group was established in 2017.

Impumelelo Yethu Drums Majorettes members are initiated into Ama-Foundation Youth Drum Majorettes Association.

Vintage Drum Majorettes, Ama-Foundation Youth Drum Majorettes, MT Angels, Peacemaker Youth Club were invited to perform at the launch.

Nombulelo Mashinini, founder of Impumelelo Yethu Drum Majorettes, said they were launching a group of their own to be based in Ivory Park. Certificates of membership were awarded to little ones who have been part of the team since day one.

“I was a drum majorette in my youth and it was great. We wanted to give the young ones the chance to that same feeling we felt during our time as drum majorettes,” said Mashinini.

“We practise three times a week. We want to entertain people while keeping children off the streets.”

Welcome Mxalaba, head of Ama-Foundation Youth Drum Majorettes Association, said they welcome the group into the association, which shows that the association is growing.

“Once the association is done with the preparations there will be an event where we would like to see what Impumelelo Yethu Drum Majorettes would bring to the table along with other groups,” said Mxalaba.
