Glen Marais twins (18) boast biggest Christian Instagram account in SA
The top 30 Christian social media account holders in the world had been invited to a social media round table discussion forum in Oklahoma.
Driven by their passion to spread the good news of Jesus, 18-year-old identical twins from Glen Marais Marnus and Jacques Stadler created an Instagram account, Reformed by Christ.
Little did they know that after almost two years, they would have over 93 400 followers around the world and boast one of the most visited Christian Instagram accounts in the world.
They made their first post on July 19, 2016, and are close to 3 000 posts today.
Their mother, Louise, said: “It was their dream to spread the good news of Jesus through a basic Instagram account through which they could touch many people’s hearts.
“They started the account because they felt God called them to carry over His love to more people. As they found that Instagram was the fastest growing platform, they focused on that.”
According to her, it is the biggest Christian Instagram account in South Africa.
The top 30 Christian social media account holders in the world, including Marnus and Jacques, had been invited to a social media round table discussion forum in Edmond, Oklahoma, hosted by Youversion, from March 29-31. Youversion is the biggest Biblical app in the world.
Following this invite, the two young men had also been invited by Templo Victoria de Houston Church in Pasadena, Texas to talk at its conference from July 24-26. They will talk about hope in Jesus Christ in today’s world.
The twins started their school careers at Laerskool Impala and matriculated from Hoërskool Brandwag last year. They are both first-year theology students at the University of Pretoria after getting bursaries from the Lutheran Church.
They both want to become full-time pastors.
And where do they see Reformed in Christ in a few years’ time?
“We ideally want the account to reach more people. We want to bring more people to Jesus. We also want the account to become a source from where our followers can stay updated with events we are hosting, to impact them and other people on a deeper Christian level,” the two said.
