Two Norkem Park police officers retire on the same day
Both men celebrated their 60th birthday in March.
Norkem Park SAPS bid farewell to not one but two police officers on March 29, as both a captain and a warrant officer retired on the same day.
Between the two of them, Capt Mafereka Shadrack Mabula and W/O Maphoko Lucas Madigoe have 68 years of loyal service to the police. Both men celebrated their 60th birthday in March.
Mabula was recruited to Kempton Park SAPS as a constable in 1982, where he became a detective 10 years later. In 2011, he was transferred to Norkem Park SAPS’ detective team, where he was group leader until his retirement.
Madigoe also joined Kempton Park SAPS as a constable, four years after Mabula. He moved to Norkem SAPS on the same rank in 1992, and transferred to Tembisa in the same year.
In 1997, he was moved to Norkem Park SAPS, where he was promoted to sergeant the following year. In 2015, he became a warrant officer.
“We wish Mabula and Madigoe all the best and hope they have wonderful rest days with their families and friends,” said station commander Tobias Strauss.
