Jeugland Radio Club to host open day on June 15

The club meets every second Saturday from 3pm to 5pm.

Jeugland Radio Club will host an open day at Hoërskool Jeugland on June 15 from 9am to 2pm.

If you are interested in electronics or radio communication satellites, grab something to eat and drink and a friend and join the group for the day.

Jeugland Radio Club, call sign ZR6JRC, is a youth-based amateur radio club operating from Hoërskool Jeugland and is affiliated to the South African Radio League.

In its fourth year now, there are 30 members on the group with about 10 active.

The club meets every second Saturday from 3pm to 5pm and activities include electronic kit building, micro controller programming, radio station setup, radio operations and fun. There is no cost involved to join.

However, when members build a project and need components or apply to write the radio amateur exam, there will be expenses.

Learners from Grade Six to 12 with a passion or aptitude for science and technology, including amateur radio, are welcome. Adults with a passion to teach the youngsters are also welcome.
