Concerned residents to meet about future of Kempton Park Hospital
The meeting is scheduled for 10am on June 15 on the hospital premises.
A group of concerned residents of Ward 15 have organised a public meeting to discuss the abandoned Kempton Park Hospital.
“Now known as the ghost hospital, Kempton Park Hospital’s doors had been shut since 1996. Research shows that out of 25 000 people who relocate to Gauteng every year, 9 000 end up in Ekurhuleni and therefore it’s no surprise that neighbouring hospitals, such as Tembisa and Edenvale, struggle to cope with the high number of patients,” said Nwabisa Makumule, one of the organisers of the meeting.
“Concerned residents have come together with the aim of gathering information on what the future plans for the abandoned hospital are. Local and provincial health officials have been invited to address the meeting,” she added.
The meeting is scheduled for 10am on June 15 on the hospital premises.
“Residents are encouraged to come in numbers to provide input as we engage health officials on this crucial and long-overdue topic.”
