Ivory Park lass wants to give to needy girls

Ivory Park lass Anna Mangaye hopes to give back to the community and fulfill her duties as Miss Best Model SA 2019 through her foundation, Every Pad Counts.

Anna hopes to find support in collecting sanitary pads to donate to needy young girls in a centre near her home. Anna says she has already collected sanitary pads, but not enough. She urges anyone who is willing to help to come forward and help her donate.

Anna was born and bred in Ivory Park. She went to PS Tsosane Primary School and then proceeded to Eqinisweni Secondary School, where she matriculated in 2017. She is a first-year law student at the University of South Africa (Unisa). The current Miss Best Model SA 2019 is a multiple pageants title holder, winning all 11 pageants she competed in since last year.

Anna says she enjoys reading and writing a lot.

“Modeling is also one of my hobbies and I’m going for modelling classes in Edleen,” said Anna.

“I am 20 years old, the youngest of three girls.”

She said Every Pad Counts is a foundation she came up with late last year after placing in Miss Teen South Africa Universal because she grew up in the township and knows how hard it is to get certain things, especially if you are part of a household that has unemployed parents.

“I wondered how hard it is for young girls who don’t have parents and how much they struggle to get sanitary pads. It also came to my mind that some might be skipping school, not because they want to, but because of the situation. Some ask their friends, but it’s not guaranteed that they will always get those sanitary pads from their friends,” said Anna.

“I need sponsorship to help with getting more sanitary pads than I have collected. It can be anyone and anywhere within the province who is willing to donate.

“I am also fond of animals, so after I’m done donating pads I will start a foundation where I will help animal rescuers by donating animal food, blankets and sometimes help clean around homes. The title doesn’t mean anything if I do not give back to the community,” added Anna.
