Victim, suspect both in hospital following business robbery on Voortrekker Road

In retaliation, the suspect stabbed one of the victims in the face.

A victim and suspect are in hospital following a business robbery on Voortrekker Road on Monday morning.

The suspect is under police guard and will face business robbery charges when he gets discharged.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, the spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, the incident occurred around 6am.

“There were three people inside the shop including the owner when the suspect entered with a knife,” said Mtshali.

“The suspect instructed and forced the three to open the till and when they did, he took the money that was inside. As the suspect fled the scene he was confronted by all three.”

Mtshali said in retaliation, the suspect stabbed one of the victims in the face.

“The stabbed victim is believed to be the owner. The other two then took iron rods and started hitting the suspect several times on the upper body and head,” said Mtshali.

“A case of business robbery is under investigation.”

Kempton Park SAPS are investigating a business robbery case that occurred on Voortrekker Road on Monday morning. A victim and a suspect were transported to hospital as a result of the incident.
