Members of SAPS in Ekurhuleni Zone 1 District (North) arrested 109 suspects from the afternoon of August 16 until the morning of August 18.
Ekurhuleni District communications officer Capt Neldah Sekgobela said 55 suspects were found driving vehicles while under the influence of liquor, 13 were arrested for assault cases and eight for dealing and possession of drugs.
“Other suspects were arrested for cases ranging from theft, possession of stolen property, money laundering, shoplifting, robbery, contravention of protection order and burglaries.
“Among the suspects were two Zimbabwean males, aged 21 and 32, who were arrested for possession of stolen property in Endayeni Section,” said Sekgobela.
She said the arrest of the two Zimbabweans were made by the Tembisa South SAPS station commander, Col Nthipe Boloka, who was executing his duties along with members of the Crime Prevention Unit and community patrollers.
“The detention came after a tip-off from members of the community.
“The suspects were found with shoes, cellphones, clothing, speakers and other goods suspected to be stolen,” said Sekgobela.
All arrested suspects are expected to appear in Tembisa, Kempton and Edenvale magistrate’s courts to face their charges.
