Ivory Park school hosts talent show

School makes means to raise funds.

The art and culture department at Ivory Park Secondary School hosted a talent show on September 5 to raise funds for the upcoming Mr and Miss Ivory Park pageant.

The event featured Tembisa’s most popular pantsula dance group, the Red Devils.

Among other acts, were performances of poetry, drama and hip-hop dance.

About 350 tickets were sold to learners for the entertaining afternoon.

Phumzile Ndlovu, educator and organiser, said they wanted to give learners a platform to showcase their talents, entertain each other and have fun, while not forgetting the aim.

Koketso Phago, a Grade 11 learner, said the event allowed them to showcase their talents.

“Our play showcased the power of mob justice, how one can fall victim to a community punished for crimes they did or did not do.

“On behalf of the learners, we are thankful to have been given this opportunity to show the crowd what we are made of,” said Phago.

Ndlovu invites former learners to join in performances of their Heritage Day celebrations on September 19. To book a slot for the event contact Phumzile Ndlovu on 063 191 6185.
