Pageant finalists visit Ebomini Primary School
Miss Ivory Park Refined finalists 2019 continues to refine the community they serve
Miss Ivory Park Refined is a non-profitable organisation which visited Ebomini Primary School in Ivory Park, to donate sanitary pads to learners, on September 19.
The pageant focuses on empowering young girls in the community. It is one of the iconic pageants in Ivory Park and Tembisa which was established in 2017 by Genolia Madonsela and Valencia Mathabela .
Madonsela (founder) said; 95% of the pageant attendees are youth. The main aim of Miss Ivory Park Refined is to ensure that our communities have strong, educated and independent young girls that will be able to take over the world.
The people that attended the occasion were Nkele Misupi, Miss Ivory Park Refined, reigning Queen and two Miss Ivory Park Refined finalists 2019, Thando Sibeko and Fiona Lehlabile Mahlakwana.
“Every year the pageant chooses a school to donate sanitary towels too as part of giving back to the community. The reason behind this pad drive is to keep the girls at school as some girls don’t go to school when it is that time of the month because they can’t afford sanitary towels,”
“This year we have chosen Ebomini Primary School which is situated in Ivory Park. Our slogan as Miss Ivory Park Refined says ‘we touch the community, we serve’. With such initiatives, we touch lives and we serve our community with what we can, to refine them,” said Mandonsela.
On September 13, Miss Teen Ivory Park finalist visited Luthando Day Care in Tembisa playing with the children and helping in the daily tasks at the centre. On September 18, Miss Ivory Park Refined finalist Lehlabile Mahlakwana attended a career day, where she was advising pupils at Rebone Primary School in their career choices.
“It is said that “Beauty may be dangerous but intelligence is lethal,” Mahlakwana.
“We touch the community, we serve, and on November 23 we will hold our finale at Ivory Park Community North Hall from 11:00 till late,” said Mahlakwana.
