He allegedly offered R300 to have his employee released

A 32-year-old man was arrested on Saturday at Tembisa Police Station for allegedly trying to bribe a police officer.

According to Capt Ralidzhivha Manyadza, the suspect came to the police station and approached a member of the tracing unit who had earlier arrested his employee.

“The suspect told him that he wanted his employee to be released. He told the officer that he had money to give him, but on condition he release his employee.

“The police officer asked him if he knew what he was doing was a punishable offence. But he insisted that the officer must take the money and release his employee. He handed R300 to the officer.

“The man was immediately arrested and charged with bribery,” said Manyadza.

He said the man will soon appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court.
