Kempton Panorama School hosted the 2019 Festival of Arts and Culture (Festo) for learners with special educational needs on September 19.
Kempton Panorama School achieved great success during the 2019 Festo, winning 18 trophies in categories such as choir, dancing, fine arts and poetry.
Other schools that participated in the event were Elandspark, Olympia Park, Belvedere and Gresswold.
A total of 28 judges adjudicated the proceedings. Among them were Gabisile Khosa, Elize Senekal, Gert Pottas, Antoinette van der Walt, Johan Swanevelder and Carina Coetzee.
“In light of Heritage Month it was heart-warming to see the learners perform traditional dances of various cultural groups, such as Tswane, Venda, Zulu and Sepedi,” said Dr Fransli Buckle, an occupational therapist from Panorama.
The organiser of this year’s event, Manalie Espach, told Express: “It brings much joy to have a platform like the Festo where learners are empowered to experience the magic of the arts.”
The principal, Demitri Theron, said the success of the day could be attributed to the school’s dedicated staff and hard-working learners.
