The trust also donated 45 mattresses to families.

Forty-six children affected by the fire at Max informal settlement received new school shoes from the Peermont Community Benefit Trust.

The handover took place at Mehlareng Farm School in Bredell.

The trust also donated 45 mattresses to families.

“When we heard about the fire and how it had affected the people living there, the trustees wanted to make a contribution,” said trustee Vusi Zwane.

On October 30, exactly a month after the fire, the trustees handed over school shoes and mattresses.

Working closely with Nomsa Fuzile, a social worker for the City of Ekurhuleni, the shoes and mattresses to the value of R20 000 were distributed to the neediest families.
