Tembisa Chess Club hosted the Tembisa Junior Chess Tournament at the Yes4Youth Hub in Makhulong Section on Saturday.
Learners from primary schools from around Tembisa took part in the event.
Event director Vusumuzi Mokone said the tournament was hosted by Tembisa Chess Club in partnership with Shabangu Skills Foundation and Yes4Youth.
“We tend to host annual chess events in Tembisa to encourage and promote a strong chess culture within our society, local schools and communities,” said Mokone.
First prize went to Karabo Mathibela from Bonwelong Primary School. Second prize went to Lungile Shongwe, also from Bonwelong Primary School. Third prize went to Loyiso Silingo from Peter Zongwane Primary School.
