Tembisa West and Jiyane dominate 2019 matric results
Tembisa schools deliver outstanding matric results
Tembisa West Secondary and Jiyana Secondary Schools share the top spot in the 2019 matric results.
These two Quantile 4 schools produced an impressive 97.7% pass rate, surpassing hot favourites such as Esselen Park, who attained a 100% pass rate in the 2018
results.
Jiyana Secondary sat 172 learners for the final exam and passed 168, while on the other hand Tembisa West Secondary had 132 learners writing and passed 129, both reaching the 97.7% mark.
In 2018 Tembisa Secondary achieved a 91.0% pass rate while Jiyana Secondary attained a whopping 98.6%, a difference of about 0.02% compared to their 2019 results.
Trailing these two is another Quantile 4 school, Bokamoso Secondary, with 97.1%.
Bokamoso Secondary had 138 learners writing the final exam and managed to pass 134. In 2018, this Makhulong Section school achieved a 91.6% pass rate, an improvement of about 6%.
Making it to the top 10 list in Tembisa, is Ivory Park Secondary School in the third position with a 96.2% pass rate, an improvement of about 1% compared to their 2018 results of 95.6%.
Another school making it to the top 10 is Esselen Park, with a 94.7%.
The surprise of the year has to go to Phomolong Secondary School, who jumped from 86% in 2018 to 93.7% in 2019, an improvement of about 7%.
Phomolong Secondary is a Quantile 3 school and it sat 205 learners for the exam and 192 passed.
Of all the Tembisa-based high schools, none have performed below the 70% mark.
