More cellphones stolen from couriers, this time in Spartan

The vehicle was later discovered abandoned in Rhodesfield

Two employees of a courier company were held at gunpoint by two men in Spartan on Tuesday morning.

The victims were parked at Knorr-Bremse on Derrick Road when they were approached by the suspects.

“While seated in their vehicle, the suspects approached them and instructed them to get out the vehicle at gunpoint,” said Mathapelo Peters, police provincial spokesperson.

“The suspects drove off with the vehicle which was loaded with parcels the victims were set to deliver. It has since been confirmed that the parcels contained cellphones.”

Following investigations, the vehicle was later discovered abandoned in Rhodesfield on the corner of Proctor and Biesie streets but the load was gone,” said Peters.

Cases of hijacking and theft are under investigation.
