ANC donates much-needed school shoes to Edleen Primary learners
Forty pairs of school shoes were donated to learners at Edleen Primary School.
Learners at Edleen Primary School were honoured to receive a donation from ANC Ward 16 branch members on February 7.
The branch donated 40 pairs of school shoes to children in need.
“We decided to make sure we contribute to the community we live in,” said Jabu Mbongwa, ANC Ward 16 branch secretary.
“There are a lot of socio-economic challenges we are faced with in the community and we want to make a change to society. This is part of our branch programme under the leadership of our chairperson Andrew Baloyi. We intend to focus on schools and child welfares, among others.”
The school principal, Tshepho Lekgoro, said they identified children to receive the shoes.
“Many of the children are beneficiaries of the feeding scheme in our school and we know just how much they needed such assistance. This donation came in just at the right time and we are truly grateful,” said Lekgoro.
Mbongwa also said they intended on reaching out to more schools, NGOs and children’s homes.
“We will continue to speak to principals in and around our community to find out how we can assist,” said Mbongwa.
“We are also willing to buy groceries, among other things, and see how best we can help. Although we would also like to branch out to areas like Thembisa, our main focus for now is Kempton Park. If any of the organisations mentioned need help they are welcome to contact us and we will see how best we can assist.”
