Flying squad members nab two

Both suspects will appear in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court to face a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members recovered two unlicensed firearms on October 28 and arrested two suspects.

Grant Giblin, BFS communications officer, said the two members followed up on information even though they were already off duty at the time.

“At around 2am they were led to a residence in Moedi Section, Thembisa, where they discovered the first firearm, a 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off carrying two live rounds of ammunition. A suspect was arrested.”

This was followed by another success at 4.30am in Phomolong Section in Thembisa.

“Another 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off was recovered without ammunition and the second suspect was arrested.”

Both suspects will appear in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court to face a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
