Two passengers injured during collision in Bonaero Park

Two vehicles collided on the corner of Atlas and Elgin roads in Bonaero Park.

UPDATE 2.15pm:

The Express has been contacted by Rochelle van Heerden who stated her daughter, Samantha Dunbar (27), died in transit to hospital.

According to van Heerden, her daughter was travelling in the red VW with two more occupants.

She said the two remaining occupants, both women, are still hospitalised, one in ICU.

 

At approximately 11.55pm on Thursday two vehicles collided on the corner of Atlas and Elgin roads in Bonaero Park.

GauMed was dispatched to the scene.

On arrival, paramedics found a red Volkswagen Golf, with a passenger who had sustained life-threatening injuries trapped inside, and a white BMW.

According to Daniel Gillian, spokesperson for GauMed, the passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle on scene.

“The patient was stabilised before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care with another ambulance service. The driver of the Golf sustained minor injuries and was also transported to hospital.

“The driver of the BMW was trapped in the vehicle and once extricated showed no major injuries and didn’t require medical attention,” Gillian stated.

He concluded that the cause of the accident is unknown; local authorities were on scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
