Mental health is wealth for this app developer
The online platform allows patients or users to consult with mental health practitioners of their choice via a secure, real-time video connection and allows practitioners to virtually assist clients.
Victor Makwakwa (26) has created an app to help those struggling with mental health issues.
Worlds’ Village is a proudly South African free web application, soon to be a mobile app.
The online platform allows patients or users to consult with mental health practitioners of their choice via a secure, real-time video connection and allows practitioners to virtually assist clients.
“The drive for such a development started before the pandemic, with the thought of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, how the future of health-care solutions will be and also the actual state of mental health in the country.

“The pandemic pushed for actual development, people could not have normal contact as per usual and thus affected them mentally.
“Mental health and depression are major issues in South Africa, and with the inclusion of the pandemic, the state of mind of people worsened.
“So this application would bridge the gap. Not everyone has access to mental health practitioners because of cost, stigma or other issues.
“Development was made to address the problem. In addition, many social ills have surfaced which affect the nation: gender-based violence, suicide and other ills.
“This platform will be a place where survivors can and will receive care. The focus is not on the ills but rather the actual mental wellness of all citizens.
“The target audience is everyone and anyone who needs counselling, therapy and better mental health and wellness. On the other side, the target is practitioners who aren’t able to service their normal clients face to face. In time, users will comprise of companies and hospitals. This is just the beginning of our product offering,” Victor said.
“Due to it being a online video communications tool, learning will be active, as the product can allow for tutoring & classes. As mentioned this is the beginning of the product offering as it grows, other channels of communication will be open.
“The platform meets the users unique needs as users will be able to choose practitioners based on how they feel and ratings and criteria of the subject case. If an individual is suicidal, they are able to link with practitioners who directly or strongly address such issues.
“It is age appropriate as all ages can use the platform. In regards to children, parental guidance or inclusion is necessary.”
