The Christian Family Church International (CFCI) Welfare Hubs team devoted its time, efforts and generosity towards its project at Con Amore School.

The school’s Ansie Gildenhuys contacted various organisations for donations and sponsorship, but she was never ready for the response she received from CFCI Welfare.

The Hubs team made a site visit to the school to establish the needs and after discussions took the decision to donate items to the value of R270 000.

“We donated a double-door glass fridge for the kitchen, 10 benches, paved walkways and assembly area, hearing aids, netball hoops, school uniforms, tracksuits, school bags and shoes, playground gym bicycle, a portion of artificial grassing in play areas, preparation and planting of a vegetable garden to equip the kitchen,” said CFCI Past Tracey Thomaz.

“Training was also provided for the teachers to ensure they are able to maintain the vegetable garden.”

Committed to making an impactful difference at the school, the CFCI team also roped in more contributions.

“We guided one of our sponsors who donated a further R245 000 towards grassing the playground and soccer area,” added Thomaz.
Gildenhuys, head of the autism phase, who was taken aback by just how tirelessly the Hubs team worked to ensure the project was a success.

The school’s principal, Pierre du Preez, also shared the same sentiments as Gildenhuys and told Express they were humbled by the contribution.

“We are incredibly grateful to be blessed with such generosity,” said du Preez.

“CFCI went from small to big projects to meet our learners’ needs. We were truly surprised by the magnitude of the donation and it is all to the benefit of our learners. We appreciate it a lot.”

The team also committed to a monetary donation towards food every month.

Thomaz also added that welfare has played a tremendous part in impacting communities around them with various projects, feeding schemes and outreaches which affect homes, individuals, orphans, the aged and those on the street.

“CFCI Welfare is an NPO with a PBO status. We would love anyone else to partner with us to change lives with these different projects we embark on,” said Thomaz.

“Working on the school project was amazing and it touched all those who worked on it. It truly was a special project and we look forward to working with the school going forward.

“Thank you to everyone who ensured the success of this project.”
