Decapitated body found, head remains missing

Police are investigating a case of murder.

EMPD officials were alerted on Monday about a decapitated body of a 31-year-old man found on the dormant train tracks in Rhodesfield Extension One.

This left officials puzzled as the head of the body remains missing after two separate search attempts on the train tracks adjacent the Gautrain rail.

K9 Warriors’ Canine Unit were called to the scene to search the parameters for the scent that could’ve lead to its discovery.

EMPD officials on scene told Express they were on patrol in the nearby area around 9pm when they were informed of the discovery by community members who passed by the tracks.

K9 Warriors were called to the scene where a decapitated body was found next to train tracks on Monday. After two separate search attempts, the deceased’s head was not found.

According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Capt Jethro Mtshali, a Kempton Park detective is currently investigating a case of murder.

“The discovery of the headless body on November 23 near to the corner of Ventura and Anson streets in Rhodesfield is still subject to preliminary investigations.

“As such, we cannot confirm the identity of the deceased or the outcome of the post mortem report at this stage.

“We appeal to anyone who can assist the police with information that will lead them to the arrest of this horrendous crime to call the 08600 10111, or crime stop number 32211 or 1011 393 8600,” Mtshali concluded.
