Kempton Park SAPS and the community expressed shock about the murder of a 49-year-old Glen Marais woman during a robbery on December 4.
According to Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, the spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, a witness told police at about 11.20pm he was visiting the home when the incident occurred.
“The family was sitting in the lapa, listening to music when the witness heard a noise which sounded like firecrackers. He went inside the house to check and was confronted by an unknown man who pointed a firearm at him and ordered him to go inside a room.
“There he saw a lot of blood. The witness told police that he then realised that the homeowners had been shot. The suspect fled the scene and paramedics were notified.

“The home owner’s wife, Belinda Huyzers, was declared dead on the scene and her husband was transported to hospital in a critical condition. The deceased’s cellphone had been taken.
“The husband still remains in a critical condition.”

The SAPS appealed to anyone with information to come forward and contact 0800 10111 or send a text message to the crime line (32211).
Ditshego said police are investigating a case of murder, attempted murder and house robbery.
