Alleged rape results in mob justice

Community members told Express that a young girl between 15 to 17 years old was allegedly raped by a man in a residential complex.

An alleged rape resulted in what was described as “mob justice” on Kempton Road on Thursday afternoon.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali who was on the scene said that the victim had been transported to hospital.

Calls of distress were signalled to fellow community members who jumped to action, seeking justice for women in the area.

The alleged suspect was apprehended in the residential complex before being transported to Kempton Park SAPS.

Law enforcement agents worked to control and disperse the crowd in order for the alleged rape suspect to be transported to the police station safely.

SAPS, EMPD and multiple security and emergency services attended to the scene.
