Three bodies found in three months

“All victims are African males between the ages of 35 and 45,” Ferreira stated.

A series of murders have occurred in recent weeks as two separate bodies were found on March 3 in Edleen. According to Sgt Barbara Ferreira, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, an unidentified male’s body was found on Wednesday on Plantaan Street. This was followed by the discovery of another body later that day in the same street.

“All victims are African males between the ages of 35 and 45,” Ferreira stated.

This follows a case under investigation since December 29 of another body that was found in the greater Kempton Park area. The victim in this case fits the same profile as those found in Edleen.

Norkem Park police request residents living in and around Plantaan Street in Edleen and Old Pretoria Road in Kempton Park to contact Capt JB Jones on 011 972 0702 with any information regarding suspicious activities in the area and near proximity to the railway.

People with surveillance footage or notarised registration numbers of suspicious-looking vehicles and persons are also welcome to contact Norkem Park SAPS to assist ongoing inquiries.

Crime awareness

In related news, Norkem Park SAPS wishes to send out a warning to all people parking their vehicles in the street or in surrounding parks while visiting friends or family. Citizens are urged not to sit inside their vehicle but to rather seek safer places to visit as armed robberies are on the increase.

“Remember that community participation in the fight against crime can save lives,” Ferreira concluded.
