Three suspects nabbed for possession of an unlicensed firearm
A tip-off from a community member led to the arrest of three suspects.
SAPS members arrested three suspects on two counts of murder, attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm after they received a tip-off from a member of the community.
According to the communications officer of Rabasotho SAPS, Capt Ralidzhivha Manyaza, the informant stated that the two suspects were involved in the shooting of three people on March 20 at about 8.30pm in Freedom Square informal settlement.
Several cartridges were found on the scene. “A group of people were sitting around a fire when three unknown men arrived and started shooting randomly. Three people were shot and one died on the scene. The second died at a hospital and the third victim is still fighting for his life in the intensive care unit.

“A 31-year-old suspect was found in possession of a firearm with an erased serial number and 13 live rounds of ammunition. Later, two other suspects were traced and arrested for the murders and shooting.”
They already appeared in court on all the charges. Thembisa SAPS station commander Brig Sudesh Sookraj thanked the member of the community who tipped off the police.
