Bowlers ‘go big’ at tournament

Kempton Park Bowling Club hosted 36 teams from across the country at their annual tournament.

Kempton Park Bowling Club successfully hosted their third annual Go Big Tournament recently. The club hosted 36 teams from far and wide, including Rustenburg, Mpumalanga, Secunda, Ermelo and Durban.

The format of the tournament was pro-10 meaning two bowl pairs (two players per team) with the four closest bowls to the jack scored four, three, two, one point per end (total of 10 points) and over 10 ends – so each game was worth 100 points.

The day comprised seven games and the session winners were:

• Peter and Sarel (Kempton Park) plus 75
• Jaun and Howard (Kempton Park) plus 72
• Des and Neil (Benoni) plus 64
• Gawie and Derick (Delmas) plus 75
• Michael and Alta (Ermelo) plus 63
• Cecil and Wade (Kempton Park) plus 67
• Joao (Nelspruit) and Piet (Malalane) plus 68

After seven games the two top teams – Jimmy and Roger, with 403 points and Kempton Park’s Cecil and Wade (397 points) – played, with the title and a winning prize of R10 000 going to Jimmy and Roger.
