Ekurhuleni North’s Criminal Intelligence Section (CIS) was notified in the early hours of March 31 about the possession of illegal metro police uniforms in Rabie Ridge.
Rabie Ridge Crime Prevention Unit was part of the search conducted at the house of a 40-year-old suspect.
According to Capt Neldah Segobela, the Ekurhuleni SAPS District communication officer, the suspect managed to flee when the officers arrived.
An unlicensed firearm was confiscated in the suspect’s toiletry bag.
“The suspect’s father unlocked the storeroom utilised by his son where ammunition and a Parrett pistol were discovered. Among the uniforms discovered were EMPD marked caps, reflector jackets and shirts.
