Community members of Piet-My-Vrou Street, Birch Acres, apprehended a suspect after an alleged attempted hijacking on April 24 at around 8.30pm.

It is alleged a woman was driving back from Boksburg when she drove into her driveway with a white Haval when the suspects approached her.
According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Barbara Ferreira, the woman noticed the suspect standing at her gate.
“As she noticed the first suspect at her gate, the other two suspects were knocking on her house window with a firearm. The woman started hooting to alert her husband who was in the house during the incident.“When her husband turned on the house lights, the suspects ran away.
“Community members caught one of the suspects after he was shot in the lower body. The suspect was treated by paramedics on scene and taken to Thembisa Hospital.“One cartridge was found on the scene and no items were stolen,” Ferreira concluded.
