People from Kaalfontein informal settlement will be out in the cold tonight after a fire erupted at about 3.30pm.

Video footage show people running to collect their belongings as the fire continues.

Emergency services are on the scene and no injuries have been reported thus far.

Many residents are concerned about shelter for tonight as temperatures are set to drop in Gauteng. 

Ward Clr Desmond Mckenzie said about 20 shacks were destroyed.
