Kempton influencer is top dog
Themba Mnisi was nominated for Hustler of The Year and Influencer of The Year.
Themba Mnisi made Birch Acres and Kempton Park proud when he was rewarded with the Influencer of The Year Award at the City Awards 011 in May.
Mnisi, known as Themba_iv_flexinator, is a social media influencer who was also nominated for Hustler of The Year.
“The day I was announced as the winner, they didn’t announce for which category, so I was anxious. Both awards represent the work I do,” said Mnisi.
“When I received the award for Influencer of the Year, I couldn’t believe it and was so happy.”
Mnisi added that although he only scooped one of the awards, he was happy to be nominated.

“The feeling is unexplainable, I was overwhelmed yet excited to be nominated in both categories. It is great that my work is recognised,” said Mnisi.
He said an influencer is someone who can make other people take a certain decision, like purchasing a brand or product. He said influencers are like celebrities who are more active on social media.
He also told Express he wasn’t intentionally working towards being an influencer.
“I was only doing what I enjoyed, which is social media. At that time I didn’t even know there was a word for what I did. Little did I know I would excel to a point where I would be nominated and become a brand ambassadorship,” explained Mnisi.
When asked how long it took for him to become an influencer, he said, “It is a work in progress. I was a ‘celeb’ on Facebook then I became an influencer before I even knew the word. I climbed onto Instagram in 2017 and got my first 10 000 followers in December the same year.
“Besides being an influencer, I’m an actor, content creator, I have my own advertising business, I’m a truck driver under my dad’s business and I do a lot of side hustles, hosting events and promotions.”
His advice to people working towards being influencers: “The best way to grow and become an influencer is to always stay active and have a niche of what kind of influencer you want to be,” he explained.
“Follow the influencers who have the same niche as you, create impressive content, be unique and be you.”
