Police officer killed

According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Barbara Ferreira, the station received a report of a business robbery at about 18:20.

On June 27, a police officer died during a business robbery at a hair salon in Tortelduif Street, Kempton Park.

According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Barbara Ferreira, the station received a report of a business robbery at about 18:20.

When the police arrived, they discovered an African male driving a blue bakkie. He was shot in the upper body and pronounced dead on scene. He was identified as WO Boyfist Mandate of Pretoria Forensics.

“While the robbery occurred, the victim went to fetch his daughter from the hair salon, with no clue of the robbery. The suspects fatally shot the victim in the salon’s driveway before fleeing on foot with two stolen phones,” said Ferreira.

The investigation is ongoing.
