Community members gathered outside, stating they will protect the mall from.riots and looters.
This follows nationwide protests and looting.

Birch Acres Mall announced earlier today that the mall was closed as precautionary measure.
“Birch Acres Mall, together with security, will continue to monitor the situation and will advise, only after consultation with the station commander for the SAPD in Thembisa, when normal trade will resume.”
