Liquor sellers under level four arrested

Thembisa SAPS makes arrests during police parade.

Members of the Thembisa community were arrested for contravening the Disaster Management Act and selling liquor under level four restrictions.

Members of Ekurhuleni District Police Station, EMPD and other law enforcement agencies paraded in Thembisa to ensure the safety of citizens.

The parade was addressed by station commander of Ivory Park SAPS Brig Mbongeni Ngcobo.

The main focus was on liquor, drugs, stop-and-search, visible policing and Disaster Management Act enforcement.

Capt Nelda Sekgobela, Ekurhuleni District communications officer, said stop-and-search operations were led by Ngcobo.

“Ten traffic fines to the value of R3 500 were issued. Arrests included one drunk driver, assault on a police officer and contravention of Disaster Management Act,” said Sekgobela.
