Ekasi’s master of ceremonies perfects his craft

“I get paid for being me. I am an entertainer on stage and in real life,” Dumisani Nyawuza said.

Dumisani Nyawuza, also known as Shabba de MC, is widely known for his spontaneous personality and love for the microphone.

The 21-year-old from Winnie Mandela Zone Four has been in the entertainment industry since 2017 after he dropped his tourism studies at Tshwane North College to focus on his aptitude as an entertainer.

“I grew up playing soccer, but my true passion was live commentary on soccer games and cracking jokes during the games.

“The compliments I received from spectators urged me to unleash my potential as an entertainer,” Dumisani said.

Despite having his mother, Sonto Nyawuza, not initially supporting his decision to leave college and focus on entertainment, Dumisani’s work progressively served as proof that he loves what he was doing.

“Sitting down with my mother and informing her that I am dropping out of college to focus on entertainment was one of the most difficult things I had to do for my career.

“She did not immediately approve of my decision, but I now understand her concern was well-founded because it was her dream to see her child succeed in academics.”

Dumisani added not having his family’s support when his career began did not stop him from pursuing his dreams of becoming a football player, commentator or radio host.

His mother later became accustomed to the idea of him being an MC.

He is working on a stepping stone of his career at various online radio stations, including Waldofian FM as an afternoon drive show host and Mbono Radio as an evening soccer show host. He is also open to any opportunities in the entertainment industry that will allow him to showcase his talent.
