Attempted hijacking leads to arrests of fake cops
The suspects were allegedly trying to hijack a truck on the R21 North onramp at Voortrekker Road.
Fast reaction from the Kempton Park SAPS Crime Prevention Unit and local security companies resulted in the arrest of three suspects on August 26.
Capt Jethro Mtshali, the spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, said members of the unit saw a white Toyota Corolla with three occupations that looked suspicious, as two of the men were wearing metro police uniforms.
The unit stopped the vehicle.

“As soon as they were stopped, one of the men jumped out of the car and tried to flee, but he was arrested.
“Upon searching the vehicle, officers found two firearms with their serial numbers filed off and police blue lights fitted to the vehicle,” said Mtshali.
“The suspects were allegedly trying to hijack a truck on the R21 North on-ramp at Voortrekker Road. They were charged with attempted hijacking, possessing an unlicensed firearm and impersonating a police officer.”
