SAPS warned people about online dating scams, as seven cases have been registered at Norkem Park Police Station in the last few months by men being lured into a hostage situation by a potential dating partner.
Sgt Barbara Ferreira, spokesperson for Norkem Park Police Station, said men are being lured to a location and then robbed of their bank cards.
The suspects then take the bank cards and withdraw the victim’s money.
WO Johan van Wyk from the Norkem Park detective branch appealed to persons with information to come forward.
