According to the organiser Mpumelelo Buthelezi and founder of Boys Mentorship, they have witnessed great joy from the boys who attended.

The seminar was attended by 58 boys of various age groups, ranging from 12 to 18. The event targeted attendance of 50 or less since it was the first time to be held at the Mall of Thembisa.

“The event was a great success judging by the numbers, and it is one of a kind. Some of the parents attended the seminar too and they appreciated what Boys Mentorship South Africa is doing in the community,” commented Buthelezi.

“We were sure of what we wanted to achieve with the seminar from the beginning. We have three things we wanted to achieve: show the boys love and make them feel accepted and celebrated.”

He explained that in his six years of working with boys, he has identified the highest psychological need of the boys, which is the need to be loved and appreciated.

“Other people who were part of the event as facilitators were Tshepiso Malema, Amanda Nomnqa, Lesley Mncube, Dimpho Mpela, Deon Mahlangu and Selokela Molamodi, who was the MC.

“Companies that supported the seminar was Ikati Clothing Brand, Leon Alfonso Fortunatti, Tinroof and Dee – Vine Couture,” said Buthelezi.
