Two gunned down at red traffic light

"According to an eyewitness, the traffic light was red when two men walked towards the Ford Fiesta and multiple shots were fired at the driver and passenger."

Police are investigating a double murder after a shooting this afternoon.

In a statement issued on behalf of acting station commander Lt Col KP Tsoute, Sgt Barbara-Anne Ferreira said reports of a shooting were received by Norkem Park SAPS at about 16.20.

“On arrival at Mooifontein Road, at the corner of P91, police found a Ford Fiesta with the bodies of the driver and passenger in the vehicle.

“According to an eyewitness, the traffic light was red when two men walked towards the Ford Fiesta and multiple shots were fired at the driver and passenger. They then escaped in a white Nissan. The occupants of the Fiesta were declared dead on the scene.

“A docket was opened and will be investigated. The reason for the murders is still unknown,” said Ferreira.
