Police join forces to arrest 121 suspects

All the arrested suspects are expected to appear in their respective magistrate's courts soon to face their charges.

Ekurhuleni’s Zone One police stations, which include Thembisa, Thembisa South, Ivory Park, Sebenza, Edenvale, Rabie Ridge, Kempton Park, Olifantsfontein and Norkem Park, saw 121 people detained on November 27 and 28.

Those arrested were handcuffed for: 31 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 16 for assault including domestic violence, 13 for drug possession and nine for theft.

Other arrests included house burglary and theft, rape, fraud, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, shoplifting, possession of stolen goods, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and malicious property damage.

Capt Nelda Sekgobela, Ekurhuleni district communications officer, said the arrests were made as a result of roadblocks, police visibility and stop-and-search operations.
