Police pursued the accused on the R21 freeway in Johannesburg.
During the chase at the Gillooly’s interchange, a shootout ensued, and the suspect’s car came to a halt after being struck by a bullet.
One suspect was killed and another was found in possession of a pistol and ammunition. Three individuals were apprehended.
The suspects appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate court on January 5, and the matter was adjourned until January 12 for a formal bail application.
The three face two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and possession of firearms and ammunition.
Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu, the Kempton Park station commander, congratulated Crime Prevention members and other law enforcement personnel for their assistance in apprehending the perpetrators.
