Avion CC face Benoni, Wattville

Several other matches set for the weekend were called off due to rain.

First up the u-8 Carnival side took on rivals from Wattville Cricket Club.

Wattville batted first and scored 110 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Avion replied with 75/5 in their 20 batting overs handing Watville a 35 run victory.

Avion’s best batsman was Juandre van Rensburg who tallied up 25 runs followed by Handre Cronje with six runs.

The best of the bowers were Juandre v Rensburg who took 1/10 and Handre Cronje who gave up eight runs.

The u-8 Impala 1 side faced Benoni Northerns Impala at the Benoni Northerns grounds.

Benoni batted first and scored 97/5 in 20 overs. Avion replied with 75/4 in their 20 overs to help Benoni secure a 22 run win.

Avion’s Tristan Dippenaar scored 18 runs not out and also left the game with the best bowling figures of three runs for four wickets in only three overs.

The final game that could be played was the u-12 Avion side against Benoni Northerns at the Benoni Northerns grounds.

Benoni batted first and scored 140/9 in 22 overs. Zian Roos led the top Avion bowlers with 2/10 runs in two overs.

He was followed by Zac Pillay who also took 2/13 runs in two overs. In his three bowling overs, Christopher Lee racked up 2/19 runs.

In reply, Avion was all out at 85 runs in 22 overs.

Christian Scheepers scored 40 runs and Christopher Lee followed suit with 28 runs. Benoni walked away victorious it 55 runs to spare.
