Man sentenced to five year imprisonment for breaking into car

Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court sentenced Wandile Lukhele (39) to five years in prison.

Station commander of Kempton Park SAPS Brig Lindani Ndlovu applauded the investigative skills of Det WO Frans Rafapa that has led to a successful conviction.

“Wandile Lukhele (39) was sentenced on February 8 following an incident that occurred on January 4 in 2021,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“Lukhele broke into a parked Nissan NP200 on the corner of Voortrekker and Monument roads but was caught by security personnel.”

Mtshali said the accused was later released on R1 000 bail and failed to appear in court and a warrant of arrest was issued.

“The investigating officer never gave up tracking Lukhele until he managed to arrest him again on January 17, 2022,” explained Mtshali.

“Lukhele was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.”
