The cream of the bowling crop is selected from bowling clubs to represent their district at three levels; veterans, opens and B levels.
The tournament allows every district to compete against each other in order to reveal which district will be the champions for 2022.
This year, the inter-districts for the veterans and B levels were held at East London and Pietermaritzburg respectively from March 7 to 11.
Six bowlers from Avion Park represented the Ekurhuleni bowls team in the district veterans and B divisions.
Three of the bowlers were awarded bronze medals in the men’s B division: Cobus Galloway, Sarel Kruger and Bennie Vorster.
Avion Park Bowling Club, now situated in Deodar Street Pomona, moved its premises with a vision to add value to the bowling fraternity by building South Africa’s first seven rink rhino turf bowling green.
Over R2.5 million was invested into the vision, with further plans of building more greens to grow bowling in South Africa as well as to grow the club.
