Rabie Ridge SAPS raises awareness on GBV
The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness about gender-based violence.
On March 25, over 150 members of the Mayibuye Youth Movement joined forces with stakeholders, such as community safety, CPFs, Powa, faith-based organisations, disaster management and SAPS, to battle gender-based violence (GBV).

The campaign’s goal was to raise awareness of GBV in the community and teach residents ways in which they can help the fight against it.
Sgt Moremi, Rabie Ridge SAPS communications officer, spoke to community members about the Domestic Violence Act Procedures and urged victims of crimes not to withdraw their cases against the perpetrators.
“With increased awareness, we hope the high stats of GBV will change in the community,” said Moremi.
The day included the distribution of a booklet with relevant information, followed by word-of-mouth presentations from many stakeholders.
The youth pledged to take action against GBV and displayed their commitment by marching from Mayibuye to Rabie Ridge Stadium.
Angie Mphago from wards 80 and 110 and Col Johanna Ngoma, station commander of Rabie Ridge SAPS, attended the awareness campaign.
